About Bek

Bek Christensen,
Leadership and Life Coach
Everything I do is about helping people and helping the planet – that’s the common thread that ties together the variety of experiences I’ve had.
I’ve always loved the natural world, and my original work was in ecology – exploring and understanding the complexity and diversity of life on earth. Along the way I discovered that I’m also really interested in people, and building connections and processes that help people work together. I’ve moved through a range of roles across public policy, human rights, communication and engagement, STEM, governance and strategy, water and environment, and of course: people and leadership development.
Throughout my experiences I’ve learned that the best ideas, plans, tools, systems, and technology are nothing without people to power them. It’s people who create opportunities, people who solve problems, and people who make a difference. And that’s why I coach: it’s a proven and meaningful way to empower people, tap into their potential, and help them move forward and have impact.
A lot of my work now involves working with groups to build leadership capability and effective collaborations. One-on-one coaching is a great complement to that group work, gives me a chance to work more closely with individuals across different areas, and to support them to be their best. I have no agenda other than your agenda, and I’m curious about your experience and where you’re going to take it.
More About Me.
Outside of work I love spending time in and on the ocean, bushwalking, singing in the QPAC Chamber Choir, and getting lost in a good read. I keep an active involvement with a range of non-profit groups supporting STEM, social justice and human rights issues within Australia and overseas. This work offers me a different range of opportunities and is an important source of grounding and motivation.
I’ve been coaching unofficially since 2017 and officially since 2020. I was recognised by the International Coaching Academy as a Certified Professional Coach in 2023 and certified by the International Coaching Federation (the global peak body for coaching) as an Associate Certified Coach in 2024.
